Episode 27

We’re rounding out the series on Bible translations! Come spend some brain cells with me while we address the New King James, Reina Valera, New International Reader’s Version, Message, and International Children’s Bible! It’s a nerdy time! || Sources used: thomasnelsonbibles.org, tommynelson.org, thenivbible.com, messagebible.com, and biblegateway.com ||

  1. I am a pastor. In my previous life, I taught religion at a community college – got my MDiv from a very conservative seminary. I find all translations concerning. Over the centuries, people have made change after change – you know that. I find the ESV particularly concerning because it downgrades women’s roles and contributions. Are you aware that this is an issue that has been written about and discussed? For me, use of the ESV is a game changer. I wonder what is going on and how women might be treated in a church that uses that particular translation. I would not take my child to a church that uses that translation. Not sure if you know that some women have that response.
